How do I play PS2 games on my PS3?

I got a ps3 earlier this month and i tried putting in a ps2 game and it said it was unsupported. I tried two different games and it had the sane result.(Mortal Kombat : Deadly alliance, and NFS underground 2) Is there any software, emulator or something i can download so i can play my ps2 games?

The newer 80gb ones cannot. The older 60gb ps3’s could play ps1 and ps2 games. Sony got rid of that when they lowered the price.

    Mine works. You may just want to call Sony Support. Mine does work with PS2 Games, like Midnight CLub Dub Edition etc.

    it was only the first ps3 that came out the 60gb with memory card reader that played ps2 games, after that sony dumped the idea

    Nothing to download. Some games are just NOT SUPPORTED. You’ll just have to deal with that.

    For the programmers, they have to go into the system and tweak some setting to let some games play. Some games take more work to tweak, hence, they become unsupported because it’s too much work.

    I’m also assuming you have the bigger hard drive.

    only the old 60 gb and the older 80 gb can play ps2 games. I have the older 80 gb and it plays most of my ps2 games (with the exception of Scarface)
    If you got the 40 gb or any of the newer models your out of luck

    Okay here’s the thing what type of ps3 do you have because only type that play ps3 is 20,60 and the mgs4 80gb bundle ps3. All have 4 usb slots and sd readers built in if you don’t have one of those it won’t work. Sorry. I have MK deception and it works on my mgs4 80gb bundle ps3 so I’m assuming you don’t have a backward compatible ps3. IM me if you have questions but there is no software that can play ps2 games. On a non backwards compatible ps3

    this is probably why. your ps3 could be a 40GB. 40GB ps3 dont play ps2 games. i dont know why.

    the original 80gb
    and i think the 20gb will play your ps2 games.
