I got a ps3 earlier this month and i tried putting in a ps2 game and it said it was unsupported. I tried two different games and it had the sane result.(Mortal Kombat : Deadly alliance, and NFS underground 2) Is there any software, emulator or something i can download so i can play my ps2 games?
The newer 80gb ones cannot. The older 60gb ps3’s could play ps1 and ps2 games. Sony got rid of that when they lowered the price.

Classic Game Room HD reviews the original KILLZONE for PS2. Killzone was released for the Playstation 2 in 2004. Developed by Guerilla, Killzone was meant to be the leading first person shooter on the PS2 with an awesome storyline and multiplayer online gameplay. This CGRHD review of Killzone 1 has gameplay footage from the PS2 video game KILLZONE. This FPS allows you to play as 4 different characters, Templar, Luger, Rico and Hakha. Play as the ISA forces fighting for Vekra against the Helghast. The popular Killzone 2 on PS3 is the awesome sequel to Kill Zone on the PS2, but is Killzone 2 really better than the first Killzone? Check it out in the review! Classic Game Room reviews PS2 games as a PS2 review reviewing PS2 shooters like Killzone!

I’m planning to get a PS3 later this year, but I don’t know if PS2 games work on a specific model, or if they even work on the Playstation 3 at all. Please help me out!
Older models can, the PS3 slim? No!
The later PS3’s ? No!
The european launch model? Yes!
The american launch model? Yes!
So you really need an older model to get Backwards Compatibility support.
It is sad to see Sony break with the past like that.

I have a lot of games that are on the greatest hits for ps2 and are in fairly good condition… I was not expecting more than 5 dollars a game but after reading the forums some I was starting to wonder.
It depends on the games age and release date. I would say maybe about 200 or 250 dollars or so. assuming the games are truly in better than average condition and includes the booklets and other things.

Classic Game Room reviews the Japanese Sony Playstation 2 model PS2 SCPH-90000. If you want to play games like Thunder Force 6 and Front Mission 5 you need a machine that can play them, and American PS2’s just won’t do the trick. You really only have 2 options, modifications or importing a Japanese PS2. CGR decided to purchase a new Japanese region NTSC 100v PS2 from Play-asia.com with a heaping jar of pocket change and play Thunder Force VI like it’s our job (it is). There are tons of import titles available only in Japan for the Playstation 1 and PS2. For some reason (money) these game companies make certain genres region locked or encoded and contain them to market specific parts of the world. They assume that Americans don’t want to play Japanese SHMUPS like TF6 or Macross Plus or strategy games like Front Mission 2 and FM5. They thought wrong! We do want to play these games and although not cheap, it’s not like you have to cut your arm off either. Importing a Japanese region NTSC Playstation 2 has never been easier or less expensive. This SCPH-90000 works on American AC power and plays games just like a US PS2. You can even set the system menus to English, and most games seem to have English menus anyway. Works with American PS2 memory cars. This review shows the differences between a Japanese PS2 and an American PS2 and how they stack up side by side. Only on CLASSIC GAME ROOM will you find such authoritative video game equipment and hardware reviews, including import gaming systems. Why learn how to modify or mod your American PS2 when there are other options that save time and money in the long run? Play import shooters and SHMUPS with ease with this Japan only PS2. Does not play PS3 games.

What is the difference between the PS2 games, Dynasty Warriors 4 and Dynasty Warriors 4 Xtreme Legend? I want to buy one of those games but I don’t know what’s the difference?
DW4 works off the premise of a story mode, wherein you choose one of the 3 sides, and play each mission in the story, picking a character from that side to play as.
DW4:XL does not have the story mode at all. Instead, you pick a character and play as them in a fight that was significant to them (even if it was not significant to the flow of the war at all). Once you beat a mission, you can then replay it as anyone in the game (and all characters are unlocked at the start, unlike in DW4). DW4:XL has more Items, the items with levels can go to higher levels, and each character has an extra level for their weapon (which has max attack power and 4 items built into it). XL also has an encyclopedia feature that breaks down the historical story DW is based on, and has brief boigraphical information on every character in the game.
If you have both DW4 and DW4:XL, you can load them together and be able to use XL’s items (and slightly improved graphics engine) to play the Story Mode from the orginial DW4.

I already have a 40 gb that dosen’t play ps2 discs. I was given a broken 60gb that was dropped down the stairs. Is it the hard drive on the 60gb that allows you to play ps2 games?
Its the EE chip. The EE chips is the CPU on the PS2. The newer PS3 units don’t have one. They use software emulation instead of the EE chip. You can’t switch out the EE chip either. Its soldered in place. All PS3 units will play PS2 games. I think its the 80GB PS2 units that use software emulation. The 40GB and 60GB have the EE chips.

NOTE: This is my second 100 PS2 games vid. Check out the original vid here:

This is a response to my original 100 PS2 games vid. In case you haven’t noticed, that vid looks quite dated, but that’s because I lost the original footage of it when a hard drive took a crap on me a few months back, so I’ll never be able to post a higher quality version of that vid.
These are from the other half of my personal PS2 collection. Some of them are sequels to games I had in my first vid, while others are games I’ve gotten since then, or just didn’t show in the original.
**Note: Some of these are flawed games that I still liked well enough, but won’t be for everyone. I used most of my best ones in the first vid.
Now if you don’t see a game you wanted to on there, chances are, I don’t have it, so let me say sorry in advance to Okami fans, because I’ve still yet to get that game, so it won’t be featured in this vid. For those sports fans out there, I show you both of the sports games I own. That’s right, the only two sports games I have in my entire PS2 collection are Madden 2001 (the grandaddy of all PS2 football games), and NFL 2K3.
One final notice, please don’t make fun of my Guitar Hero “skills.” I’m a noob and I know it, so no need to remind me. That’s actually probably the best I’ve ever played that game which is sad.
Here’s is a list of the games (though, as you can see, I list them in the vid itself):
Activision Anthology (Pitfall shown)

Arc the Lad: End of Darkness
