Video Games

I am in the market for a new computer and I’d like something that will be able to meet the requirements for playing computer games. I’m not looking for top of the line equipment, just something that will get me by without too many problems. If anyone could give me some advice on these areas, I’d appreciate it:

1. CPU (Minimum Athlon/Intel processors to consider)

2. RAM (1 GB or 2 GB? And what type of RAM?)

3. Video Card (I need the most help with this, every computer I’ve ever bought seems to come up short in this area).

I’d welcome any other advice or comments you might have. Thanks in advance!

core 2 duo is whats good right now. no need for a quad core. p4 are still very usuable if you cant afford a core 2 duo, but it would be worth the extra investment to get it. core 2 takes less power to run and performs better especially if your multitasking.

1gb is pretty close to the min system requirements for the newer games, id go with 2gb for optimal performance.it will be ddr2 most likely

the 8 series from nvidia is the newest. with the 8800 being the top of the line. but since you dont need the best you can get a 8600gts which is what i bought for aorund $175. or the 8500 for around $75 if you look for the good deals. The 8 series cards also have directx10. if you dont have windows vista or dont plan to upgrade it tohugh you can get some of the 7 series cards that are as good as the lower end 8 series but they only have dx9. for the 7 series id get something like the 7900. also check to see if your mobo is sli rdy so you can use to video cards of the type to get even better performance.

My computer is a Windows XP and I have recently updated Norton Internet security. But I find I can’t play any of my computer games for more than 10 minutes and my Internet randomly shuts down all the time as well. I’ve tried uninstalling all games I don’t use to create more space, defragmenting my files, even turning off all my security while playing games and nothing is working. What is the correct way to solve or at least help prevent this?

If things start to go wrong after your last installed application, then you should uninstall that application.. sometimes cleaning up registry helps too. Try to scan your computer for viruses/malware/spyware as well.

I really enjoy playing Animal Crossing, but I do not enjoy having to set up my Wii every time I want to play it. My computer is much more accessible. What games are out there that have a similar style of game play? I am not looking to emulate any games. I already have the sims, but I am looking for a slower paced game. A more relaxing game, if you will.

I love playing her interactives Nancy Drew computer games, but I am always waiting for the new ones to come out. I have played some similar ones, including "scratches". Can anyone give me a list of others that DONT suck?

i’ve been joining this site forum for a year and half now.they’re great people and i manage to discuss few games with Frogwares representative.

I have a Windows Vista desktop in my basement, that is used for a lot of computer games. But last week, I bought myself a netbook, that does not hase a CD/DVD drive. I already own games like Zoo Tycoon2 Sims2 and Roller Coaster Tycoon3, which i would like to play on my netbook, so i can take the games with me. Is there any way to do this legally, without having to download a bunch of different softwares?

Since i have roller coaster tycoon as well I know its annoying that you need a CD drive to play it. I don’t really know of any legal way to do this.

I wish I could help you more because I know you just want to find a way to play the games you bought on this new computer, but you should not be following any advice to download files from torrent sites.

People sharing full or cracked versions of software this way is always illegal. When sites tell you they are legal they’re talking about only themselves – the activity YOU do by downloading pirated or hacked software is still illegal. These sites commonly spread viruses and spyware so there is never a safe way to use them.

Hi. I have kind of an old computer, with an 863MHz Intel Pentium III processor, and 256MB of RAM, and I want to play some games on my computer. What are some good, fun games that I can download onto my computer, free, and play? Thank you.

I know a good website that doesn’t take up too much space. It’s all homebrew, and most of the games don’t require much too much to run, so not many should really be a problem. All games use directx 8.0 or above, so be sure you have downloaded that before visiting.. It is called www.yoyogames.com. The download button is down the bottom of the screen next to the comments, but there is also a plugin that lets you play the game straight off the website. I have an account there called cman, if you go there check out my games like imelda marcos cleans her shoe cupboard. It has a rating system so you always know what you are going to get there (quality wise). Some are loads of fun, check out the hanrahan game.

It WOULD be easier to say, though, if you told us what video card you have. Yoyogames is loads of fun.
